First let me thank all of you who DO NOT allow ONE genre to dominate your listening. I have always listened to EVERYTHING and MY music is intended for listeners with ABOVE AVERAGE intelligence. If you are a person who says childish things like "I don't listen to Rap," or "I don't listen to Metal," etc, etc. YOU are a person who obviously doesn't know why these "genre's" were created. They were created to keep small minded individuals boxed in and content. Now I understand many of us have a FAVORITE genre or style of music. But it truly amazes me how people can still say things like "I Don't Listen To Rap."
Do you really know what you are saying?:) Does this mean when you watch TV and a commercial comes on, you turn away because of the "RAP MUSIC INFLUENCE?":) My music tracks are made to reach EVERYONE! My words are written and spoken to reach those NOT AFRAID of what is being said by few. I was once ashamed of some of the things I said in some of my music but again IT IS TRUTH! Only the BEST human-beings allow ALL of who they are to be seen by strangers. Now does that mean I am doing music to piss people off? NO! Does that mean I am a hater of women? NO! Does it mean I want to influence other artists and fans? NO! All I want is to be "HEARD" but when you listen to my music...you really have to "LISTEN." And if you are offended by listening to my music, ask yourself why? I don't know you and yet YOU think YOU know ME?!:) It has been done and there are NO regrets..."NEVER ASSUME!"

I will say this, music is supposed to be an expression of the artist (that is you) and not everyone is going to like what you or any other particular artist may have to say. That is what is so wonderful about music in general. The ones who go against the grain and who doesn't conform to the cookie cutter pop that everyone becomes complaisant to listen to, will in turn have that respect within themselves AND the fans who are looking for something unique and most importantly finds something in that song they can relate to. Rap is a genre that will always get a bad rap (no pun intended). It is because of the bold lyrics and the environment in which it was created in. Yes, I have my favorite genres but I am open to everything. I remember the days when I listened to Black Moon, Mobb Deep, etc. (remember the beatnuts!) and was transfixed with the beats and the lyrics! Keep doing what you are doing, stay true and like you said..."NO REGRETS"!!!

Thanks for your kind words Christine. Yes I do remember "The Beatnuts.":) I wrote this blog in response to a few messages I got from fans here on Fuzz. I keep hearing things like "Clean it up and it will be GREAT!":) It is as if no one uses bad language in their everyday lives.:) As an infant, my first words were the "hot words" because I had a father who was "REAL." It does not mean that I talk this way in public but I get so sick of people trying to critique my "WORDS" and their not even listening to the entire song. Also I believe the world is screwed up because we ALL keep seperating into so many groups instead of trying to understand human-beings as a whole. I thank GOD for my parents and their ability to understand that "GREAT MUSIC" is just that, no matter what the genre.

A wise man once told me "just keep doing you're thing and you'll be fine," sound familiar my rapping friend. Now, I will say "fuck the knuckle heads". There are haters out there, this I do know. Even some of my own (used to be friends) musician friends rather hate than to acknowledge my new accomplishments. Jealousy is a strong motivator, it will bring out the worst in people. They can start by going and cleaning their own house, their own mind, their own existence. They are like the politicians who say shit like " NO GAY MARRIAGE , NO GAYS IN THE MILITARY " then are found at interstate rest areas naked getting plowed. YOu my friend are as real as it gets. Fuck'em all, and I say this in your defense " SHIT FUCK PUSSY MOTHERFUCKER CUNT DICK ASSWIPE SLUT COCK & BALLS FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK :) I my friend are as real as it gets, you don't need to swear to convey this, but I do, and it's my choice and how I too was brought up, "fuck it" :) good vibes my brother from another mother, Jostel

Oh and Butcher, if I may call you that ;), I think it was only yesterday when I heard that usually people who have a problem with either music or something in that medium, they have had a personal experience with what they have seen or heard. This is what infuriates them so. In any event, you can't stop your own creativity just because someone says clean it up. It is all so relative anyways! What one might think is offensive the other might think of as art or appropriate in that context! Jostel also made a good point on the fact that there are a lot of haters out there. In my opinion they are out there because they don't possess some kind of creative outlet for their own damn emotions, etc. I am glad your parents have been supportive!!! Much love! and Jostel....this one is for you...BANDCHODE (it means sisterfucker in hindi!)

Thanks Jostel my brother from another mother:) Yes I remember those words. I guess I am not as patient as I use to be. But thats why it is good to have "REAL" friends and artists who are truly in your corner. Glad to know you worship the SUN. Also glad to have your support and friendship.

Not knowing about the actual messages you received I assume at least a bunch of them were not written out of a hate of hip hop (rap) but out of the fear of rap lyrics playing into the hands of racists, e.g. using the "nigga" expression which is similar to the word racists use.
Me saying this does not mean though I agree with and it also does not mean I don't agree with these arguments. Actually I'm not sure about it. I guess like most things there are several, partly contrarian, effects happening simultaneously.

Actually one of the messages asked me "why use such a hateful word like nigga?" I responded, "I was called this word in school by both black and white kids. Though its meaning was NEVER explained to me until I read Malcolm X's Biography in 7th grade. There are many powerful words in the English language. I use them because I can." Thanks for responding "I Love You."

Whats up .I read your blog and agree with you on how closed minded people can be with music as well as politics.Everybody seems to have to belong to their own special club, and if anybody is different from themselves, they ignore them.I say if the song kicks ass.Listen and appreciate it.You dont have to categorize it!I like all types of music.A true musician will appreciate all the colors in the spectrum.Rock on and GO OBAMA!
